Official website of Pop band Jakil on Band For The Day.

2008 was a great year for this Edinburgh five-piece, and it kicked off in fine style. Outselling the likes of Glasvegas with their debut single “Who Are Ya?”, the guys were selected by BBC Radio One as Annie Mac’s House Band. Jakil were asked to write and perform a jingle for Annie, and were interviewed live on Radio One just minutes after the Christmas number one was announced. “Who Are Ya?” also picked up its first national radio play, and grabbed further airplay across the UK. In 2008 Jakil also held the title of Radio Forth’s ‘One To Watch’ – winning a competition that ran throughout the year in East Central Scotland. Jakil picked up their gong at the prestigious Radio Forth Awards in Edinburgh’s Assembly Rooms alongside the likes of Gabrielle, David Gray, Shayne Ward, and many others. 2008 has also seen Jakil record and release they're debut EP and play in some of Scotland’s most prestigious live music venues such as Glasgow’s Barfly and The Picture House in Edinburgh. In December they released a brand new EP "PLAN B" and became the first unsigned band to digitally "covermount" their music in a deal with a major newspaper (The Scotsman). And with new bassist Tomoya Hoshino (Tommy Starfield) bringing the band to new heights in time for what will be an incredible 2009, the future is looking very bright indeed for Jakil.
